There’s this old saying believed to originally come from The Bells of St. Mary’s around about the year 1945 or so – wasn’t that like a film or something with Ingrid Bergman playing Sister Mary Benedict? The saying says something like, “it isn’t what we acquire in life, and it’s what we give up”. Anyway, the point is it would be truly special to be able to acquire a Glashutte watch and if you could afford to purchase a Glashutte then it would be even more special if you could give it away to someone that you love or appreciate.
Now most of us don’t have that kind of money – to buy a Glashutte, but there is a Glashutte replica that could be easily purchased for yourself and that someone special. Then you could truly feel the power of giving.
What is it about giving something away that makes you feel better?
For some it’s the giving of something that allows them to feel, if you don’t give then you also don’t get the chance to feel great. Because when you give something away you get a good feeling. Whether you wanted to feel like that or not, it is often what happens. If you give something away that you don’t want to part with or that you are forced to give away then you feel resentment and anger. This is not a good feeling and no-one wants to be put forced to give something away that they don’t want to give away.
That’s why, if you can, it’s nicer to give freely. Make it your own choice to share and make other happy. When it is done without expecting anything back that’s when you receive the most. Try it the next time you’re not thinking about it. Now, there’s a challenge.
